Credential upgrade paths for transitional and inactive credentials

New versions of credentials are released when there is a significant change in a skill, product or technology. While older versions of credentials are no longer attainable by new candidates, they continue to be recognized as part of the HP Certified Professional Program and remain valid toward program benefits.

HP credentials - Status definitions

  • Active - The most up-to-date credential in a specific technology. It may be obtained by a candidate at any time.

  • Transitional - A credential that is still recognized by the program, but which will no longer be attainable as of a specific date in the future. This credential may have a more up-to-date or "superseding" credential considered to be Active.

  • Inactive - A credential that is still recognized as part of the program, but which is no longer attainable by a new candidate. This credential is valid toward benefits in the HP Certified Professional Program. Any HP Certified Professional holding a credential with this status is strongly encouraged to upgrade to an Active credential.

  • Expiring - A credential that is still recognized as part of the program but, due to significant technology changes, will no longer be recognized as of a specific date in the future. You are encouraged to upgrade immediately to the recommended new credential.

  • Expired - A credential that is no longer recognized by the program. The technology has changed to the degree that the HP Certified Professional Program has determined it will no longer maintain the credential.

The links below show all credentials that have a status other than "active" in the HP Certified Professional Program. Also shown here are paths to replacement credentials. You are not obligated to upgrade your older credentials, but we highly recommend that you keep your skills current by achieving one of the active credentials that is replacing yours. When you complete the requirements, you will automatically be awarded the new certification title.

Authorized HP Partners, please note: While you as an individual are not obligated to upgrade a certification, your employer may require that you obtain the latest version of a credential in order for the employer to remain authorized under HP Business Partner program requirements. Partner authorization changes are communicated directly to your employer.

Mark your calendar - HP Technology Forum 2007

In 2007 the HP Technology Forum will be held June 18-21 in Las Vegas, Nevada USA. Look for email communications from the Program Office with all upcoming details. Now would be a good time to go talk to your manager and get approval to attend.
