Certification exams are the means to validate your knowledge and skill. Exams are administered over the internet or in-person (proctored) at a network of global authorized testing centers.

Exam preparation

A single certification exam may include topics covered by multiple training courses, as well as knowledge developed from hands-on experience. Exam Preparation Guides are available for every certification exam. These guides describe the content and type of exam, exam topics, number of questions, and passing score. Many specify recommended HP training, references, and study materials. Find these guides in The Learning Center under ‘Attachments’ for each exam, or on the information page for the exam in Certification Explorer.

About exams

Certification exams may be administered online, at a trade show venue, or at an authorized testing center. Exam question formats may include multiple choice, complex graphical, and written questions, and exam tasks may include virtual lab, and/or hands-on activities, depending on the skills or knowledge being evaluated.

Registration for all HP ExpertONE exams can be completed at PearsonVUE.com/hp. Note: please be prepared to provide the exam number for your exam along with your HP Learner ID. The exam number can be found in The Learning Center, Certification Explorer or on the certification data sheet for the associated certification.

Exam results

Candidates receive their exam results immediately after completing the exam. Your transcript in The Learning Center will be updated within a week.

Types of exams

• Proctored exams (HP0-xxx) are typically administered at Pearson VUE testing centers. Occasionally, HP will arrange for onsite test centers at major events. An HP Learner ID is required to register for an exam. All exam registrations, payments, scheduling and cancellations should be completed by going directly to the following Pearson VUE website: http://www.pearsonvue.com/hp/ . Exam fees vary by country but usually range from $100 USD to $200 USD for proctored exams. • Performance-based exams (HP0-xxxP) are used primarily for HP Software certifications. Candidates interact with the software and answer questions during the test. HP0-xxxP exams are administered in a proctored environment at select software testing locations.
• Web-based exams (HP2-xxx or HP3-xxx) are conducted over the web in a secure browser environment. Web based exams offer the convenience of 24-hour access but do have a time limit. All exam registrations, payments, scheduling and cancellations should be completed by going directly to the following Pearson VUE website: http://www.pearsonvue.com/hp/ . Exam fees vary by country but usually range from $25 USD to $100 USD for online exams. • HP ATA Certification exams (HP4-xxx) are conducted right in the classroom at participating Certiport authorized testing centers. All exam registrations, payments, scheduling and cancellations should be completed by going directly to the following Certiport website www.certiport.com/hpstudent .
• Practice exams (PRA-Yxx) are similar in format and content to the actual certification exams and supplement existing training and exam preparation guides. Upon completion of a practice exam you will receive immediate scoring information, including the reasoning behind the questions and the logic behind the answers. This helps you focus your training or studying efforts on specific elements of the content.
