To support the official November launch
of the HP Certified Professional program a worldwide
website is now available. The worldwide website provides
general information about the new program and provides
links to current pre-merger certification websites.
The website also provides a Frequently Asked Questions
(FAQs) document. You'll want to visit the worldwide
website
http://www.hp.com/go/certification for program updates.
The new program was pre-announced in October at the
HP Enterprise Technical Symposium to pre-merger
HP and Compaq certification communities. A new brochure
about the new program was distributed. Click here
to review the brochure. With the official launch of
the new program scheduled for November, stay tuned for

Hundreds of HP Certified Professionals met in St. Louis for the HP Enterprise Technical Symposium (HP ETS). The HP Enterprise Technical Symposium 2002 was a highly successful forum...and for many IT professionals, the first opportunity to get extensive and in-depth technical training on the new HP.
To continue the interchange of knowledge, attendees can access many of the session presentations from this event. To view the presentations, log in to the site using your portal name and password and then select "event presentations" from the left-hand navigation. Please note: only presentations approved for posting by the speakers are available. Presentations are also only available for symposium attendees. Confidential or roadmap information is not available.
A "Certified Professional Day" was held on Monday October 7. Certified Professionals who attended the HP Certified Professional Breakfast heard about the new program's architecture. Brian Beneda, Worldwide Architect Manager, shared the four certification focus areas with the group. The certification areas are:
- Sales
- Pre-sales Consultant
- Integration
- Operating Systems
Ann Thueland, Worldwide Marketing Manager, unveiled the new logos and Tony Croes provided an update on integration efforts. It was a pleasure to award leather jackets to the 10 year HP Certified Professional members. Susan Underhill, executive sponsor of the new program, served as breakfast "host". The breakfast format allowed the HP Certified Professionals to hear and see the individuals on the new HP team. The HP Certified Professional Hospitality Suite served as the "meeting place" for the certified community. Always a popular spot, the suite allowed the HP Certified Professional team to mingle with all their guests as well as distribute new backpacks and shirts to attendees. With so much activity packed into one week it's hard to write down every detail... sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words. We'd like to share our HP Enterprise Technical Symposium Photo Gallery with you. |

Here's an update on information shared at the Master ASE Luncheon during the HP Enterprise Technical Symposium. The following information about Novell support on ProLiant Servers is provided by Jack Richard, HP Product Marketing Manager. Jack says, "I would like to take this opportunity to give you some updated information related to the support of Novell NetWare on ProLiant servers and ensure you have the necessary information to effectively communicate to your respective organizations There has been some recent confusion related to communications indicating what ProLiant servers will run NetWare and what servers HP supports for NetWare. Some of that confusion seems to have been around processor speed and related issues. I'd like to clarify the facts on our capabilities around NetWare on ProLiant servers." Click here for the rest of Jack's story.

The Compaq Accredited Professional Program - now known as the new HP Certified Professional Program - is launching new track requirements for the NonStop designations at the Accredited Integration Specialist (AIS) and Accredited Systems Engineer (ASE) levels of certification. This new initiative is based on "streamlining" the NonStop designations with new requirements that are more closely aligned with the technical competency skills required to deliver and support HP NonStop solutions. The track changes are minimal. Past track requirements provided candidates with specific areas of focus to choose from such as: Operations and Management or Application Design and Development.
With the announcement of the new HP Certified Professional Program, integration efforts will continue to merge pre-merger HP and Compaq certification programs. These on-going integration efforts provided an avenue for analyzing the existing NonStop requirements. Given HP certification requirements are thoroughly researched via focus groups, surveys and technical subject matter experts, recent feedback acknowledged the need to provide more flexibility in requirement electives. Incorporating electives allows more flexibility for an individual's certification needs as well as the needs of organizations and customers.
All HP Certified Professional NonStop candidates now have a choice in selecting required and elective exams. Candidates and managers of potential candidates will find the changes continue to provide a professional level of skill measurement that demonstrates an individual's competency as a NonStop Systems Accredited Integration Specialist (AIS), and Accredited Systems Engineer (ASE). To obtain information on the new NonStop requirements visit the Americas Compaq Accredited Professional website.

HP StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array
(EVA) recorded record-breaking performance results on
the Storage Performance Council Benchmark-1 (SPC-1).
The SPC delivers objective, verifiable performance data
to the computer industry and customers. Using its benchmark,
the StorageWorks EVA recorded 24,005.54 input/output
per second in a storage area network environment - more
than 50 percent faster than its nearest competitors. The
record-breaking results are attributed in part to a
new fibre channel loop switch approach and several other
VersaStor Technology innovations.
