» Value Of Technical Certifications Article
Compaq's High Performance Systems Group recently raffled off two H3850, 64MB color iPAQs to incent participation in two beta exams. 130 candidates from five regions participated in the beta for the OpenVMS V7 Advanced Administration, Performance, and Support exam (011-450). The iPAQ winner was Michael Harrison, a Compaq employee, from Englewood, Colorado. 93 candidates participated in the beta for the OpenVMS V7 Network Administration exam (011-436). The iPAQ winner was Shabbir Sadikot, a Compaq employee, from Mumbai, India. Congratulations Michael and Shabbir!!
Although both winners were Compaq employees, many non-employees and Compaq partners participated in the beta test and lottery. Beta participants had to complete the test on or before February 15, 2002 to qualify for the lottery.
The two advanced-level exams are requirements for the new OpenVMS V7 Systems Engineer certification. The final exams will be available April 1, 2002. The free beta exams remain available until the final exams are released. Worldwide participation in beta exams is essential, since it helps to ensure Compaq Accredited Professional exams are fair and accurate measures of competence, and the exam passing scores are set appropriately for the intended audiences. The Compaq High Performance Systems Group (HPS) group is very grateful to all who participated.
