July 1, 2002 CCR deadline for selected designations
The July 1, 2002 deadline is fast approaching! In January 2002 we announced continuing certification requirements (CCRs) for a select group of designations. The designations affected by the July 1, 2002 CCR are:

» AIS ProLiant/NetWare
» AIS ProLiant/Windows NT
» ASE ProLiant/NetWare
» ASE ProLiant/Windows NT
Attention ASEs -- July 1, 2002 CCR Deadline
  • The CCR requirement at the ASE level is to ensure all ProLiant/NetWare and ProLiant/Windows NT ASEs hold a current OS certification from either Microsoft or Novell.
So what does this mean?
  • ProLiant/Windows NT ASEs should have a MCSE in either Windows NT 4 or Windows 2000.
  • ProLiant/NetWare ASEs should have a CNE in NetWare 5 or 6.
What if my OS certifications are up to date, what do I do?
Great, for noted ASE-level designations your CCR is basically a paperwork exercise. We're asking you to provide us the following documentation:
  • Complete the CCR Completion Notification Form located at: ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/training/certification/CCR_completion_notification.pdf
  • Complete the Non-disclosure form (part of CCR Completion Notification Form)
  • To show proof of matching OS:
    • For MCSE Windows NT 4 or Windows 2000, fax us your MCSE transcript
    • For CNE NetWare 5 or 6, fax us your CNE certificate or transcript
  • Fax all documents to: 281-514-6039. Upon receipt of your documentation, you'll receive an email confirmation from the certification Program Office.
So how do I contact Microsoft or Novell to obtain copies of my transcript or certificate?

What if I failed to upgrade my matching OS to the current release the Compaq Accredited Professional Program requires?
Failure to complete this CCR (failure to provide documentation showing current matching OS) will result in your ASE level certification status being revoked. You will however, retain your Accredited Integration Specialist (AIS) designation.

So, given some of the CCRs you've tackled in the past, I think you'll agree, faxing in your proof of compliance really isn't that hard or that bad. You've worked hard for your certification, don't lose it over a simple paperwork exercise.

New Designations
NonStop™ designations have experienced robust growth and maturation over the last year. At the ASE level there was originally only one track called NonStop™ Systems Operations and Management. As we received feedback it was apparent we needed more than just the hardware specific track. So...a new track was added called NonStop™ Systems Application Design and Development. We're happy to report these two tracks are now also available at the AIS level. Here are the designation names as well as the requirement URLs:

Compaq Enterprise Technical Symposium
The Compaq Enterprise Technical Symposium scheduled for October 6-11 in St. Louis has been rebranded to: HP Enterprise Technical Symposium. This is HP's premiere technical conference for the HP technologist covering StorageWorks, HP OpenVMS, HP ProLiant, Tru64 UNIX, HP-UX, Linux, Novell, Oracle and Microsoft Technologies. Plan now to take full advantage of the Symposium.

Jointly produced by Hewlett-Packard and Encompass, an HP User Group, this will be the most comprehensive technical conference of the year for the technologies covered. The Symposium is designed for three key audiences - the HP customer, The HP Accredited Professional, and the HP Field Solution Architect (SEs). The week will offer a rich mix of general sessions presented by senior HP executives, hundreds of technical breakout sessions, many comprehensive NDA (nondisclosure) sessions and dozens of hands-on workshops. For more information, visit the symposium website at: http://hpets2002.com (currently being converted from http://www.cets2002.com) or view the initial Encompass marketing materials available at: http://www.EncompassUS.org/images/pdfs/postcard.pdf.
