Transition/Migration Information...what do I need to do?
As the integration of the pre-merger databases continues, plans are still in place to send individuals personalized letters about their certification status beginning in April 2003. Clarification: Letters regarding revocation of certification In January 2002, Continuing Certification Requirements were set forth, allowing a year for participants to comply. We regret to inform you that your certification as an HP Certified Professional specializing in "Plan_Description" was revoked effective January 31, 2003. The third paragraph is not indicative of your individual certification, but was used as an example of how other certifications you hold could be affected. The HP Certified Professional Program architecture is structured so that each level of certification may be used as a prerequisite for another level of certification. Due to the loss of your ASE level of certification, other certifications you may hold could be affected. Example:

The universe of HP technologies has expanded and we're working to meet your educational needs in this new environment. This year, the annual HP World Conference & Expo and the HP Enterprise Technical Symposium will be merged into a single, integrated conference. The new HP World 2003 Solutions and Technology Conference & Expo is not only the largest annual gathering of IT professionals employing HP solutions, services and technologies, it's now the most comprehensive. Produced by the Interex and Encompass user groups in partnership with HP, the five-day conference delivers training seminars, tutorials and sessions, panels, networking opportunities and an exposition covering the breadth and depth of the expanded HP portfolio. The event will take place in Atlanta August 11-15, 2003. The integrated conference, which will target IT decision-makers (including CIOs and CTOs), line-of-business managers, and technical users and developers, will be organized by content tracks. The weeklong program will feature knowledgeable speakers, including well-known IT leaders and many senior executives from HP.
If you'd like to participate on a team to provide input on what the content needs to be, please send a note to the Americas mailbox: certification.americas@hp.com ... and, we'll be in touch. In addition to the educational program, the conference will include the industry's largest exposition focused on HP solutions and technology. More than 160 vendors are expected to participate in the 220,000-square-foot expo hall. According to a new salary survey from Brainbench, the downtrodden economy had a negative effect on IT workers' salary increases in 2002, as well as driving back the salary advances seen by women in 2001. The "2002 Brainbench IT Salary Survey" shows that more than two-thirds of the 6,000 respondents saw no salary increase or very slight increases in 2002, and expectations for salary increases in 2003 are down as well. The new salary survey is built on the responses of more than 6,000 IT professionals in the United States who were chosen from Brainbench's database of more than 4.5 million users. Respondents represent many industries and company sizes. The good news is that professional certifications are still a great asset for IT professionals. Those who earn certification are far more likely to see salary increases over and above the industry average of 1 percent to 3 percent. But salary increases felt the pinch of belt-tightening in the technology sector in 2002. Sixty-seven percent of respondents said they received increases of 3 percent of less in 2002, up from 52 percent in 2001. Women in particular lost ground on the salary front in the technology sector in 2002. The number of women earning salaries equal to those of men fell in almost every salary category above $40,000. Respondents don't see things improving much in 2003 either. Forty-two percent said they expect salary increases between 0 percent and 3 percent in 2003, and only 30 percent expect a 3 to 5 percent increase. This is down from 2001, when more than half expected increase in the 3 to 8 percent range.
