This issue holds information about three important developments for HP Certified Professionals. First, we have rescheduled HP Technology Forum 2005 for October 17-20, 2005, in Orlando, Florida. This rescheduled event includes all the great stuff we originally planned for you, so get this training event back on your calendar! Second, our next webcast Tech Talk is scheduled for November 9. The topic is HP Storage, so mark your calendar now. See the Program Information section for more information about the technology forum and the webcast. And third, we are announcing a great new benefit to broaden and deepen your certification background. Learn about the CompTIA exam discounts in the Certification Testing and Exams section.

Opt-out policy

You now have the option to no longer receive these monthly newsletters as well as other HP Certified Professional communications. If you would not like to receive these communications, you can "opt out," by following the steps below:

  1. Log into your HP Certified Professional Profile. If you need help logging in, please visit our Login Assistance page on the Participation Guide at www.hp.com/certification/americas/online_guide/access.html.
  2. Once logged in, select the Change My Profile (New Employer, Address Changes, Email, Etc.) link.
  3. The different communications you can choose from is listed below your email address field. Just uncheck the boxes of the items which you don't want to receive from HP.

All HP Certified Professionals will receive Program Update information as well as Continuing Certification Requirements (CCRs) communications. There is no "opt out" option for Program Updates and CCR communications.

An update on HP Technology Forum 2005 - it is rescheduled!
Our heartfelt thoughts are with all of the people in the U.S. Gulf Coast areas affected by Hurricane Katrina. In light of the damage to the city of New Orleans, we have rescheduled the 2005 HP Technology Forum, originally planned for September 12-15 in New Orleans.

Mark your calendar for the November 9 "Tech Talk"
A web cast "Tech Talk" is scheduled for November 9 at 8:30 am PST (Pacific Standard Time). This quarter's topic will be HP Storage. A specific email regarding registration will be coming soon. Quarterly "Tech Talks" are part of your ongoing HP Certified Professional benefit package.

Announcing Credential Versioning…the new process for how credentials are managed
The HP Certified Professional Program Office is changing the way we manage existing and release new credentials.

New credentials
The Americas Certified Professional Program Office is pleased to announce the availability of three new credentials. They are:

Continuing Certification Requirements (CCRs)
Currently there is only one active CCR. It is APS- HP ProLiant Server or HP Services NetServer Qualification (for pre-merger HP service resellers). The deadline for this CCR is January 2, 2006

Recent credential status changes
Given the Program Office has announced the new "Credential Upgrade Path" process, the newsletter will now provide the status of credentials using new terms

Inactive credentials
With the implementation of the new Credential Upgrade Path process (credential versioning), the following credentials now have an inactive status. An inactive credential is still recognized as part of the program, but is no longer attainable by a new candidate. This credential is valid toward benefits in the HP Certified Professional Program. Any HP Certified Professional holding a credential with this status is strongly encouraged to upgrade to an Active credential.
