HP teams with Ericsson to deliver Unified Communications Solution for businesses
Extending the companies' long-term alliance, HP recently announced a worldwide agreement with Ericsson to jointly deliver a unified communications solution for businesses. The solution converges telephony and information technology infrastructures, as well as service provider and private enterprise networks.
Targeted at large as well as small- and medium-size businesses, the solution enables employers to provide seamless voice and data services for employees, whether they are in the office or traveling. Employees also can reduce the number of devices they use and can have a single phone number for both mobile and fixed calling.
Virtualization solutions for the Adaptive Enterprise
While the HP Utility Data Center (UDC) is sometimes confused with Grid Computing, the two are actually separate but complementary technologies that suit somewhat different goals. This white paper describes the distinct, complementary roles of the HP Utility Data Center and HP Grid Computing solutions, and makes the business case for both approaches to the adaptive enterprise. It distinguishes between the different business challenges they address, briefly describes how they work, and explains how they can be used in combination.
Kontiki Delivery Management System on HP ProLiant servers
Enabling rich media delivery across a large enterprise has traditionally been impractical due to the prohibitive costs of upgrading and maintaining a high-bandwidth network infrastructure. Kontiki and HP, partnering to overcome these barriers, have changed the approach to content delivery and sidestepped the high WAN bandwidth requirements of traditional approaches. The Kontiki DMS (Delivery Management System) on HP ProLiant servers enables all the network-attached computers in a large distributed institution to receive rich media quickly and efficiently through a patent-pending 'localized' delivery grid. The result is on-demand, full-screen business video delivered to employees, partners, and customers without cost-prohibitive infrastructure upgrades.
