Already hold a storage AIS, ASE or Master ASE certification?

If you currently hold the "AIS – HP StorageWorks" certification, you can upgrade to the [2008] version by passing a single "delta" exam. If you currently hold the "ASE – HP StorageWorks [2005]" certification, you can upgrade to the [2008] version by passing the exams "Designing and Implementing HP Enterprise Backup Solutions" (HP0-X02 or HP0-771) and a special "delta" exam. If you currently hold the Master ASE – HP SAN Architect - Data Availability Solutions [2005] (transitional) certification, you can upgrade to the new Master ASE – HP StorageWorks [2008] certification by passing a delta exam and the exam Designing and Implementing HP Enterprise Backup Solutions (HP0-J24 or HP0-X02).

Transitional and inactive storage certifications

The Master ASE – HP SAN Architect – Data Availability Solutions [2005] certification is now transitional. If you are currently working to attain the [2005] certification, you can still do so until March 31, 2009, after which time the [2005] certification will become inactive.

The certification ASE – StorageWorks Nearline Storage is inactive as of June 1, 2008. Candidates for this certification are encouraged to attain the new ASE – Specialty in HP StorageWorks Secondary Storage [2008] credential instead. The new specialty certification is a replacement for the inactive certification.

Note: If you work for an HP channel partner, your company may require you to upgrade your current certification or to earn a new certification in order to support partner program requirements.

You choose your information foundation

HP gives you more choices and allows you to focus on what's important to you when earning your certification. Here's how:

Acceptable prerequisites:
You can now apply certifications from the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) as prerequisites to the new and the existing AIS certifications. You now have even more ways to develop and validate your basic storage knowledge.

Customer market focus:
As you pursue the "AIS – HP StorageWorks [2008]" certification, you choose to focus on the customer market that best suits your business – either Small/Medium Business (SMB) or enterprise. Both paths lead to the same certification; however, taking the enterprise path more fully prepares you to advance to the "ASE – HP StorageWorks [2008]" certification.

Software focus:
As you pursue the "ASE – HP StorageWorks [2008]" certification, you can choose to focus on either the HP Storage Essentials software or the HP Data Protector software. Taking one additional elective covering your choice of storage software will help you earn a specialty certification.

New training courses give you a technical advantage

Many new training courses were developed for the new certifications. However, they also apply to existing (older) certifications. If you are pursuing a pre-[2008] certification and take current training, the course content reflects current product information.
